AQUACULTURE
Aquaculture is an important part of our marine economy; it creates jobs in costal communities and can provide employment year-round. With the growing demand for seafood, investing in local aquaculture is a vital part of our industry. At Snow & Company we have contributed to this industry by building oyster dredgers and FLUPSYs (Floating Upweller Systems).
The stable and controlled environment of FLUPSYs helps protect young oysters from predators and diseases that they might encounter in open water along with providing a constant supply of fresh food, allowing baby oysters to grow to maturity much more quickly.
Project Spotlights:
99' x 26' FLUPSY HOG ISLAND
The Floating Upwelling System (FLUPSY) is a 99' x 26' floating barge designed to grow seed efficiently with easy transfer of material to shore.
FLUPSY PORT OF SAN DIEGO
Our The Floating Upwelling System (FLUPSY) is designed to grow seed efficiently with easy transfer of material to shore.
ROCK POINT OYSTER TENDER
The Rock Point Oyster Tender is a 42' all-aluminum boat that features a wheelhouse with 8 windows, 2 doors, approximately 7’x7’ with console for engine controls, steering, electronics, and lockers for gear storage.
OYSTER DREDGE
The Boomslinger is constructed with heavy and frequent framing throughout so it is ready for the abuse it is guaranteed to see on the most demanding jobs. Having a relatively flat bottom allows for shallow draft constraints and better stability when crewmembers are working over one side.
